National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) is a nationwide payment system facilitating one-to-one funds transfer. In this payment method, individuals, firms and corporations can electronically transfer funds from any bank branch to any individual, firm or corporate with an account with any other bank branch in the country that is eligible for NEFT.
NEFT is the way to go from transferring funds abroad to paying a huge amount to your colleague
STEP 1: Use Strong Passwords: Create unique, strong passwords with a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using easily guessed information like birthdays or names.
STEP 2: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Add an extra layer of security by using 2FA, requiring both your password and a one-time code.
STEP 3: Beware of Phishing Scams: Never click on suspicious links or provide sensitive information through emails, messages, or pop-ups. Banks will never ask for login credentials.
STEP 4: Verify Bank URLs: Always access your bank’s website by typing the URL directly into the browser. Look for “https” and a padlock symbol to ensure a secure connection.
STEP 5: Keep Your Devices Secure: Install reliable antivirus software, keep your operating system and apps updated, and avoid using public Wi-Fi for banking transactions.
STEP 6: Logout After Use: Always log out after completing transactions, especially when using shared or public devices.
STEP 7: Monitor Account Activity: Regularly check your bank statements and transaction history for unauthorized activities. Report suspicious transactions immediately.
STEP 8: Avoid Sharing Banking Details: Never share your PIN, password, or OTP with anyone, even if they claim to be from your bank.
STEP 9: Use Banking Apps: Prefer using official banking apps over browsers for added security features like fingerprint login and encryption.
STEP 10: Set Alerts: Enable SMS or email alerts for account activities to stay informed of any transactions or login attempts.
STEP 11: Secure Your Wi-Fi: Use a strong password for your home Wi-Fi to prevent unauthorized access.
STEP 12: Be Wary of Unknown Software: Avoid installing apps or software from unverified sources on devices used for banking.
